What I like about

One of my favourite features about this bouncer is the toy bar. It’s got bright and vibrant colours with two spinners and an elephant clacker, which provides a lot of fun for my baby. They’re at baby’s eye level, which is the perfect position for babies to reach the toys and interact with new animal friends. The toy bar is also detachable, which is great as I can remove it when I want unobstructed interaction with my baby or to give her different toys to play with. It’s also helpful to be able to detach it for easy cleaning.

The Fisher Price Baby’s Bouncer is also really easy to assemble. It took me just five minutes to put together and I could then use it pretty much straight away. The bouncer is also really lightweight and easy to carry or move around, making it a great option for small apartments like ours as well as larger properties and multi-storey houses.

Another plus is how convenient it is to clean and maintain. The seat padding can be easily removed and washed in the washing machine - very convenient especially with babies who tend to be a bit messy. The padding dries very quickly, without having to wait days or needing to use the dryer. The frame can be cleaned just by wiping down with a damp cloth.

In terms of safety, the bouncer offers a deep padded seat, rubberised feet and a three-point safety harness. Even though we would have preferred a five-point harness, not having one wasn’t a dealbreaker for us.

Lastly, the bouncer bounces when your baby moves around with natural movements, which can be quite entertaining for them when they understand cause and effect a little better. You can also activate the bouncer’s vibrate setting by pressing on the dedicated button. When I need to tackle some tasks around the house or take a quick shower, the vibrating function can be quite useful in keeping my fussy baby calm.

What I’m not a fan of

Although the seat pad is made with extra soft materials, I do notice that the fabric tends to get dirty fairly quickly. However, like I mentioned earlier, it can be washed in the washing machine and typically dries within a day. I wash it on a fortnightly basis together with my baby’s other toys as well as play gym to prevent it from getting too dirty.

Another downside is that unlike the Bright Starts Infant To Toddler Rocker, you aren’t able to adjust the recline angle with the Fisher Price Baby’s Bouncer. Having such a feature would make it more versatile and would be great for extending the usage of the seat, turning it from a seat catered to babies into one catered for toddlers.

Lastly, while it is generally small enough and does not take up much space in the cupboard, it would have been even better to be able to fold it flat to make it even more compact. In the Australian market, the Babybjorn Bouncer is one of the few bouncers that has this capability. However, if I wasn’t given the Fisher Price Baby’s Bouncer, I probably would still feel a bit apprehensive with purchasing the Babybjorn as it has a high price tag without many additional features compared to the Fisher Price Baby’s Bouncer. To me, it doesn’t really justify the higher price point.

Fisher-Price Baby’s Bouncer vs Fisher-Price Deluxe Bouncer

The Fisher Price Baby’s Bouncer is a simpler version of the Deluxe model and does not have these extra features below:

  • Ability to play music and nature sounds and adjust the volume via a control panel
  • An additional premium insert to support baby’s head and body
  • A detachable overhead mobile

The Fisher Price Deluxe Bouncer is almost double the price of the Fisher Price Baby’s Bouncer, though both bouncers are able to hold the same maximum weight capacity of 9kg.

Overall, given the price and what we need, the Baby’s Bouncer serves its purpose and would still be our choice if we had the option to choose a new bouncer again. In saying that, if you are after something more fancy and if your budget allows, the Deluxe Bouncer is a great option amongst other baby swings, bouncers and rockers.

Conclusions

The Fisher Price Baby’s Bouncer offers a cosy and safe place for my little one to chill out and relax, sometimes being so comfortable that she’s fallen asleep in it several times. It genuinely takes away some of the pressure and stress off of me. As I find it challenging to put my baby to sleep especially when she’s overtired, the Fisher Price Baby’s Bouncer helps calm her down and is a great tool for getting her to sleep at times.

In general, the Fisher Price Baby’s Bouncer provides great value for money and has been a godsend for me, saving me from sore arms and back pain from having to hold my little one all day. It is one of the perfect gift ideas for a baby shower and I highly recommend it to new parents, especially those who have babies who may be fussier.
